Only 375 of 6,000 vacancies stuffed in central universities: Centre

New Delhi: Only 375 college positions in central universities have ben stuffed out of some 6,000 vacancies, based on information submitted by the training m inistry in Parliament on Monday, regardless of a directive in September final 12 months to rectify the scenario speedily.

Of these, 375 recruitments occurred in central universities, 355 in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), 71 in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 84 in Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), 27 in Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, and 4 in Schools of Planning and Architecture, the ministry information confirmed.

As many as 6,549 instructing posts throughout 45 central universities are at the moment vacant, based on one other set of information shared by the ministry within the Lok Sabha final week. “Occurring of vacancies and filling thereof is a continuous process. The vacancies arise due to retirement, resignation and additional requirements on account of enhanced students’ strength,” the ministry on July 18 knowledgeable Parliament, explaining the rationale behind the delay in recruitment. “The institutions are adopting various measures to address faculty shortages in order to ensure that studies of students are not affected, which includes engaging research scholars, contract, re-employed, adjunct and visiting faculty.”

The ministry additionally stated that ads have been issued to rent folks in 4,807 posts since September 2021.
