Gujarat: Two shot lifeless by former armyman throughout conflict in Porbandar, 11 booked

A former Army man allegedly gunned down two individuals throughout a conflict between two teams of a neighborhood in Gujarat’s Porbandar city, police mentioned on Saturday.

An offence has been registered in opposition to 11 individuals, together with an area BJP councillor and his son, for the incident that befell on Friday evening, an official mentioned. “Last night, some members of two groups from Maher community clashed. One of them was a former Army man, who had a licenced weapon. Two persons died from shots fired from the weapon at a close range,” the official mentioned. According to the police, the conflict erupted after autos of some members of the 2 teams had been hit, following which individuals began hurling abuses and firing within the air.


Armed with a revolver, swords and baseball bats, they attacked one another, leaving two lifeless and one (the complainant) critically injured, it was said. The police have arrested three individuals together with ex-Army man Arbham Odedara and seized the weapon, he mentioned, including that efforts are underway to nab others.

An FIR has been registered underneath sections 302 (homicide), 307 (try and homicide), 143 (illegal meeting), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with lethal weapons) and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC in opposition to 11 individuals, an official of Kamla Baug police station mentioned.

The deceased individuals had been recognized as Kalpesh Bhutia and Raj Keshwala, he mentioned.

Local BJP councillor Bhima Odedara and his son Nilesh are amongst 11 individuals named within the FIR, he added.
