In a tragic incident, a Class 12 girl reportedly died by suicide in Tiruvallur district in her hostel room hooked up to a government-aided faculty, police officers mentioned.

“It’s too early to confirm anything except that it is a case of suicide. We are investigating it,” a senior police official of Tiruvallur instructed HT.

The 17-year-old girl’s physique was taken to the Tiruvallur authorities medical faculty and hospital for postmortem. Police declare she reportedly took the intense step through the wee hours of Monday.

The incident led to protests by a number of locals and oldsters close to the varsity premises amid heavy police deployment.

Deputy inspector basic of police (DIG) M Sathapriya and Tiruvallur superintendent of police (SP) Cephas Kalyan have been investigating the matter inside the varsity premises.

This growth comes days after the tragic demise of one other Class 12 woman in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi reported on July 14.


On July 13, a 16-year-old woman reportedly died in her hostel premises of a personal faculty in Kallakurichi.

The woman’s mother and father suspected foul play whereas police mentioned she allegedly died by suicide.

The protests over the gilr’s demise reportedly turned violent on July 17 when the varsity was broken, police and college automobiles have been set on fireplace. Around 52 police officers have been additionally injured within the incident.

The Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) is presently investigating the case and the state authorities has shaped an Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the instructions of the courtroom.

Last week, the Madras excessive courtroom whereas listening to the Kallakurichi woman’s demise case had ordered that any demise inside an academic establishment should be investigated by the CB-CID.
