SILCHAR: The Barak Upotyaka Banga Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan, the apex literary and cultural physique of this south Assam valley, submitted separate memorandums to a few deputy commissioners, demanding using Bengali language for administrative and different official functions in accordance with the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Act, 1961.
Members of the organisation on Thursday met the deputy commissioners of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts and SDO of Lakhipur subdivision and submitted the memorandums. The organisation members careworn that the Bengali language must be used for all administrative and different official functions on this valley and sought the deputy commissioners’ intervention on this regard.
In the memorandums, the Sammelan said that 80% of the folks of Barak valley are Bengali-speaking. As a results of the language actions, the language rights of the valley have been recognised by way of the authorized system. But regardless of repeated calls to the federal government and administration, there’s a tendency to violate the language legislation whereas forming varied authorities pointers, varieties, ads, hoardings and even for employment checks.
