New Delhi: Two extra individuals linked to Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) had been arrested in Assam’s Barpeta district on Sunday for allegedly indulging in jihadi actions.

“Police also conducted an eviction drive in a Madrasa in Barpeta as it was illegally constructed on government land and also has a link with the two arrested accused,” stated Amitava Sinha, SP, Barpeta.

The two accused, recognized as Akbar Ali and Abul Kalam Azad, had been detained from a home in Sorbhog space of the district on Saturday evening.

“Following their interrogation overnight, they were arrested on Sunday,” a police officer stated.

When produced earlier than an area courtroom, they had been remanded to 10 days in police custody, he stated.

Goalpara district police had on Friday arrested Hafizur Rahman Mufti, a instructor at Madarsa who additionally has hyperlinks with AQIS/ABT.
