130 Children Hospitalised In West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri With Fever, Dysentry

Jalpaiguri (WB), Sept 13: At least 130 youngsters have been admitted to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital with excessive fever and dysentery, a well being division official stated on Monday. Two of them have been later shifted to North Bengal Medical College as their situation worsened, he stated.

The improvement comes amid warning by consultants that the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic may pose a better threat to youngsters. “We are maintaining a tab on the state of affairs and making an attempt to develop the hospital’s infrastructure in order that nobody is denied admission. The state of affairs is kind of worrisome,” the official told PTI.

If necessary, the children will be subjected to COVID-19 tests, he stated. District Magistrate Moumita Godara Basu, who visited the hospital during the day, held back-to-back meetings with authorities to assess the situation and find a way ahead, the official added.
